Making it all work together…

Monday, April 27th, 2009

I got an interesting question about HOW I’ve tied Facebook, Twitter, and DougMeade.com together. The answer ended up being longer than a status comment is allowed to be on facebook. So I thought I’d put the info here.

Here’s the breakdown - I hope it’s not too confusing.

I’ve decided that (for me) everything starts from twitter … if you’re curious here’s why I chose to use twitter as my “home base”

Anyway…

I have a wordpress plugin called “twitterTools” running on DougMeade.com that creates posts from my tweets, and tweets from my posts.
Here’s a link to the plugin:

Also I use the Twitter FaceBook app to put my tweets in my status.

My only concern at the moment is… what happens when I reply to a tweet. I’d rather NOT have any twitter replys show up as my facebook status.

Previously I was using a wordpress plugin called “wordbook”  to update Facebook with my blog posts .. which were being created by my tweets. :) That worked great because twitterTools doesn’t create posts for twitter replys - so I never had to worry about facebook being updated with those.

The downside is that WordBook updates the wall - not the status.
But other than that it’s a good tool.

…In the end I may have to create my own app. :)

Just updated the twitter / facebook integration. Now tweets & blog posts should go to the status area vs. the wall. I think that’s better.

Getting all Social up in here…

I activated a Wordpress plugin called “WordBook” that should update my FaceBook profile when I post a new blog.
And as you know Twitter is already integrated into this site.
(If you didn’t know that you can find out why here)

I am enjoying the Twitter integration, but I have no real idea how what WordBook will do to my FaceBook page…
I guess we’ll see.

I feel so social!
