Recently Dave started an effort to be more healthy.
He’s elected to use a free-form, but suitably geeky, methodology known in the Blog-o-sphere as “The Diet”.
It works like this:
- Participants are free to do whatever they decide appropriate to get in shape.
- Participants are expected however to make regular (usually weekly) blog posts on their progression.
- Participants are also expected to tag the posts appropriately so that other participants (probably through technorati) can follow along.
- Participants also post any photos related to their efforts to a specific Flickr pool.
It is the brain child of Colin Devroe.
While I personally remain unconvinced that making such a public spectacle would actually hold me accountable…
I AM convinced that not doing so has PROVED itself ineffective.
So to that end…
I’m announcing my entry into the spectacle.
I will not be posting photos.
That level of public humiliation can serve no good.
However I will be posting and tagging as per the guidelines outlined above.
I’m not sure DougMeade.com has any readers left…
But for the sake of any who wander in here - my official start date will be Feb. 29th, 2007.
Until then I will be getting the proverbial ducks in a row.
If you read this - please feel free to check in and call me out if it appears I’m slacking.
In the coming days I will post more detailed information about my personal plan to become less spherical.

[…] I’m glad to see that some folks listed on Colin’s Diet page are still going and I’m following them via their RSS feeds. I don’t think the list of participants there is up to date, however, so if you’re just starting be sure to check out Technorait and the flickr pool / discussion group for possible new and continuing participants. Cheryl has signed on in her quest to make healthy changes in her life through yoga, and Doug has signed on in his goal to “become less repulsive“. […]
