Robert F. Kennedy once said “There is a Chinese curse which says, ‘May he live in interesting times.’“
The point is when things are boring, at least your safe. Or some such nonsense.
If there is any truth to that I must be the safest man alive.
I sadly have very little to report, and the Blogs have really slowed down lately.
A fact that is really starting to bother me.
In fact it’s gotten so bad that I had decided that today I would make something up.
Conjure some little bit of fiction to inject into my life for purposes of good Blogging.
But as I rolled the creative dice to build some “Choose your own adventure”TM of me I realized I had a few things worth mentioning after all.
Saturday Jana and I had Christmas with her family.
Yes it’s almost February, but you see the Christmas spirit lives with us always.
Anyway Jana’s folks got us a VERY cool gift indeed.
They paid for our lessons, and log books, and etc to get our Scuba license!
Jana and I had a blast with our first dive in Hawaii.
I can’t wait to get started.
That same evening we went out on the town with some of Jana’s co-workers.
It was fun but I was SOOOOOoooo tired it was hard to REALLY enjoy it.
We had to drive down to Bloomington, then drive back, then drive downtown, and then back.
(to be accurate I should say I had to drive…)
Sadly most of the evening was punctuated by my unending disgust at how out of shape I’ve become.
I was dressed reasonably well and still didn’t look very good.
Or feel very good.
How the heck did I let it get this bad?
I’ve gained about 20 lbs in the past few months, and that SUCKS!!!
Certainly enough to affect how I look, feel, the clothes that fit, and how much energy I have.
I’m usually a pretty resolved person, but try as I might the past few months I’ve been unable to get myself back on track with anything CLOSE to a healthy eating routine.
And let’s not talk about how long it’s been since I’ve been to the gym.
I think being so uncomfortable when we went out this weekend may have done it.
So I’ve embarked on a new crash diet of my own devise.
I’m calling it the “I’d rather be dead than do this diet” diet.
But I’m doing it anyway.
It’ll be hell.
And the lack of food may cause me to slip in and out of consciences.
I can only hope that while I’m out something cool happens… like meeting a spirit guide or something.
Well.. stay tuned in the weeks to come for what will likely be rage / malnutrition fueled rants about God knows what.
And lastly…
Dave has been reading Wil Wheaton’s page lately as he’s getting into “GeoCaching”. A hobby Wil has been noted as partaking in.
I’ve been a fan of Wil’s site for awhile. (He’s a poker player as well)
We’re thinking of starting some completely false pretence on our sites that imply we are close friends of Wil’s. I’m not sure why we thought that would be funny…
But we may still do it.

I don’t want to sound ignorant here, and I’m not being a smart ass…and I think the scuba gift is really really cool, BUT, once you get certified, where are you going to dive? Eagle Creek?
Just curious, because if you’re moving to Hawaii, I want to go.
